Dates can change: confirm on the official Experience AlUla calendar before you book. Plan your light around a 06:25 sunrise and 18:00 sunset: the first and last two hours are the best for Hegra, Elephant Rock and photography.
What to pack for AlUla in October
Loose, light long sleeves and trousers, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, high-factor sunscreen and a refillable bottle (drink 3+ litres a day). Cover shoulders and knees at heritage sites (see our dress code guide) and wear closed shoes for rocky ground.
A 3-day AlUla itinerary built for October
Day 1 - season-opening Old Town
Walk the Oasis and Old Town in late afternoon, then check the Wellness Festival schedule for an evening event.
Day 2 - Hegra in improving weather
A morning tour is still preferable early in the month. Finish at Elephant Rock near sunset.
Day 3 - wellness or archaeology
During the festival, build the day around one booked session; otherwise tour Dadan and Jabal Ikmah and visit Maraya.
