How we fact-check

Travel rules, warnings, prices and opening arrangements change. This is how we separate verified information from estimates and how we correct mistakes.

Our source order

  1. Government sources for entry rules, laws, safety advice and public transport.
  2. Official operators for tickets, prices, opening hours and transfer arrangements.
  3. Primary datasets for climate and calculated information.
  4. Reputable secondary sources only where a primary source does not answer the question; uncertainty is stated rather than hidden.

What the dates mean

Updated is the date the article itself changed. Facts last checked is the date its changeable claims were compared with the sources listed on that page. A successful automated check does not alter the sitemap date or pretend the article was rewritten.

Automated monitoring

A daily Cloudflare Worker checks the official UK FCDO JSON feed and the US State Department travel-advisory RSS feed. It records a fingerprint and emails the editor when either entry changes. It also raises an alert after three consecutive failures. The monitor never changes safety wording by itself.

Prices and schedules

Prices are dated and normally described as “from”. Hotel and flight prices are not presented as fixed facts. If a resort transfer, tax or meal plan changes the real total, the guide tells readers what to confirm directly.

Corrections

Corrections are checked against the strongest available primary source before the page changes. Material corrections receive a genuine new updated date; purely cosmetic deploys do not. Material changes are recorded in the public corrections and source-change log. A public corrections address will be added only after the destination mailbox has been verified.
