How many days do you need in AlUla?
Two full days covers the essentials: Hegra, the Old Town, Elephant Rock at sunset and Dadan. Three days adds an adventure (balloon, via ferrata or buggies) and time to enjoy your hotel. Four or more lets you slow down, stargaze at Gharameel, hike the canyons and, on longer trips, visit Tayma.
Base yourself near Old Town for convenience, or in Ashar Valley for the resort experience. AlUla’s sights spread across about 60 km, so a car saves a lot of time.

Questions travellers ask
How many days do you need in AlUla?
Two full days for the highlights (Hegra, Old Town, Elephant Rock and Dadan), three for a relaxed pace with one adventure activity, and four or more to add stargazing, canyon hikes or a Tayma day trip.
What is the best month to visit AlUla?
October to March, when days are around 20–30°C. December and January are the busiest and coldest at night. Summer is very hot, so plan outdoor sights at dawn and after sunset.
Can you visit AlUla without a car?
Yes. Book tours that include pickup, like the Legacy of AlUla tour, and use ride apps or hotel drivers. A car gives much more freedom, as the sights spread over about 60 km.
Do you need to book Hegra in advance?
Yes. Hegra is only visited on ticketed tours, and peak-season dates sell out. Book it before anything else.
