Hegra tickets sold out — what to do
Hegra is ticketed, timed and genuinely does sell out on winter weekends. If your dates are gone, you still have options — in this order.

Your options, in order
Check the official site again — daily
Experience AlUla releases tickets by season, and cancellations drip back into the system. Check early morning Saudi time, and look at the day either side of your ideal date. Midweek slots last far longer than weekends.
Try the resellers
Resellers hold their own allocations and often have seats when the official calendar shows none. Prices are close to official for standard tours.
Look at premium and private tours
The standard tour sells first. Premium small-group circuits, vintage Land Rover tours and private guides have separate allocations and survive longer — they cost more, but they exist when nothing else does.
Swap the time of day
Everyone wants the golden-hour slots. Midday and early-afternoon tours are the last to sell; the light is harsher but the tombs are the same, and the site is emptier.
Do Dadan and Jabal Ikmah instead (or first)

So it never happens again

Car hire
AlUla and the Riyadh escarpment are driving destinations. Book an SUV early in season.

Pre-book a car from AlUla International (ULH). Resorts are 30–60 minutes away.

Do Hegra tickets really sell out?
Yes. Daily capacity is fixed, and Thursday to Saturday slots in the October–March season go first. Midweek and midday slots last longest.
Can I buy Hegra tickets at the gate?
No. Entry is by pre-booked, timed tour only. Occasionally same-day slots appear online from cancellations, but never rely on it.
Are resellers more expensive than the official site?
Usually only slightly for standard tours — the official price is from SAR 95 (≈ $25) (checked September 2026). Premium and private tours cost more everywhere but have separate availability.
What if no Hegra tickets exist at all for my dates?
Book Dadan and Jabal Ikmah, Elephant Rock at sunset and a stargazing experience instead — and keep checking. Season extensions and cancellations release new slots without warning.
